ALL OUR PRODUCTS ARE VEGAN AND AS SUCH LACTOSE FREE. ALL OUR FOODS ARE PALM FREE.
Just Vegan exists to facilitate access in any location to products of plant origin, not tested on animals and healthier.
We have strict criteria when choosing the products we accept in the store:
* Only ingredients of vegetable or mineral origin
* Not tested on animals
* None of the ingredients tested on animals by the company that produces them or by another company at your request. have been tested on animals
* No palm or derivatives in the case of food, even if it is bio and RSPO certified. This measure is very difficult to implement in the case of hygiene and cosmetic products as there are more than 100 possible names for palm derivatives and among these names there is uncertainty as to whether its origin is palm or not. Furthermore, palm derivatives are normally used in very small amounts in cosmetics compared to food and diesel use. However, we do not sell soaps with water for example.
We also have preferential criteria, which means that a product that meets more of these criteria will have our preference:
* proximity to the producer (we have some suppliers less than 50km away, others on other continents because there is no equivalent local offer)
* shorter ingredient supply and distribution chains
* main shareholders of the company (we avoid products from brands owned by companies that exploit animals and destroy the environment
* smaller companies (one way to promote variety on offer is by supporting smaller companies
Some guarantees that we take into account when choosing products:
* vegan certification
* cruelty free certification (not tested on animals)
* environmental certification
* organic certification
* fair trade certification
* other certifications or proof given of respect for animals, environment and workers.
Regarding packaging, preferences are:
* Less packaging material
* Biodegradable packaging
* Easily recyclable packaging
We have been rejecting some products just because of the excessive use of packaging material that we consider unnecessary.
Unfortunately in many cases biodegradable packaging drastically reduces shelf life.Also, whenever available, we reuse the crates and protective materials we receive.
We are averse to green washing, which means making a product look greener than it really is.
When we use the term "ecological" in the title of a product, we are only transposing the title that the manufacturer attributed on the packaging. We don't want to convey the idea that the product is good for nature or the environment. Nature doesn't need ecological products. It will simply be less bad than conventional products. We refuse to use buzzwords like "good for the environment" unless the product can actively reverse an environmental problem.
